Freie Asso­zia­tion: Aktua­li­sier­ter Call for Comm­ents zum Thema Tür­kei

liebe Inter­es­sierte,

die Zeit­schrift »Freie Asso­zia­tion« sucht noch ein­mal Kommentator_​innen für ihre nächste Aus­gabe:

Zwei­ter Call for Comm­ents: Freie Asso­zia­tion 1/2018 »Natio­na­lis­mus in der Tür­kei« – aus gege­be­nem Anlass mit einem 3. Haupt­bei­trag

Das nächste Heft der Freien Asso­zia­tion ana­ly­siert die Bedin­gun­gen der Mög­lich­keit für die aktu­el­len Ent­wick­lun­gen in der Tür­kei: wie lässt sich der Auf­schwung des tür­ki­schen Natio­na­lis­mus ver­ste­hen, inwie­fern hängt dies mit sei­nen Kon­sti­tu­ti­ons­be­din­gun­gen und jener der tür­ki­schen Nation zusam­men – auf wel­che Ele­mente und Ereig­nisse (fik­tiv oder real) wird sich bezo­gen, und auf wel­che nicht?

Zunächst konn­ten wir hierzu zwei span­nende Haupt­bei­träge gewin­nen, zu denen bereits einige Kom­men­tare ein­ge­gan­gen sind: Der Sozi­al­psy­cho­loge und Sozio­loge Meh­met Mihri Özdo­gan prä­sen­tiert in sei­nem Bei­trag »Nation, Traum und Mas­sen­bin­dung. Die Natio­na­li­sie­rung der Gesell­schaft am Bei­spiel der Tür­kei« grund­le­gende Über­le­gun­gen zu einer psy­cho­ana­ly­tisch-sozi­al­psy­cho­lo­gi­schen Ver­ständ­nis der Ent­ste­hung natio­na­ler Gefühle und Bild­wel­ten, vor deren Hin­ter­grund er sich dem Pro­zess der Natio­na­li­sie­rung der tür­ki­schen Gesell­schaft zuwen­det. Die Kul­tur­anthor­po­lo­gin Ayşe Çav­dar beschäf­tigt sich in ihrem Text »The Image of the State: The Saga of Wild Dum­rul in the ›New Tur­key‹ « mit einen in der tür­ki­schen Geschichte immer wie­der dis­ku­tier­ten Mythos und fragt nach sei­ner Funk­tion in der aktu­el­len Situa­tion in der Tür­kei.

Fest­ge­stellt haben wir zum Ende der Heft­pro­duk­tion, dass uns ein Thema unter­wegs abhan­den gekom­men ist, wel­ches für den tür­ki­schen Natio­na­lis­mus jedoch zen­tral ist: der Geno­zid an den Armenier_​innen ab 1915 direkt vor der For­ma­tion des tür­ki­schen Staa­tes als Nation, der bis heute – nicht nur – in der Tür­kei tabui­siert und ver­leug­net wird. Da wir die Rolle der andau­ern­den Leug­nung die­ses Völ­ker­mords für die Ent­wick­lun­gen des tür­ki­schen Natio­na­lis­mus sowohl in der Tür­kei wie auch für inter­na­tio­nale Debat­ten gerade nicht beschwei­gen wol­len, und erschro­cken waren, als wir fest­stel­len muss­ten, dass wir gerade genau das taten, haben wir uns ent­schlos­sen, einen außer­or­dent­li­chen drit­ten Haupt­bei­trag auf­zu­neh­men, der diese Lücke expli­ziert the­ma­ti­siert: Talin Suci­yan dis­ku­tiert in „Aner­ken­nung, aber wie? Schlag­lich­ter auf pro­ble­ma­ti­sche Aspekte der Aner­ken­nungs­de­batte in Deutsch­land“ die erin­ne­rungs­po­li­ti­schen und wis­sen­schaft­li­chen Ver­an­stal­tun­gen der Jahre 2015 und 2016 im Kon­text der andau­ern­den sys­te­ma­ti­schen Gewalt der Leug­nung, die auch den Nach­kom­men von über­le­ben­den Armenier_​innen in Deutsch­land tag­täg­lich ent­ge­gen­schlägt.

Dafür ste­hen jeweils 2.000–10.000 Zei­chen an Platz zur Ver­fü­gung. Auch sehr kurze, nur eine knappe Druck­seite umfas­sende Kom­men­tare sind uns will­kom­men.
Dead­line für die Ein­sen­dung der Kom­men­tare ist dann der 24. Februar 2019.

2nd Call for Comm­ents: Freie Asso­zia­tion 1/2018 »Natio­na­lism in Tur­key « – with a 3rd main article for the occa­sion

The next issue of the »Freie Asso­zia­tion« ana­ly­ses the con­di­ti­ons of pos­si­bi­lity for the cur­rent deve­lo­p­ments in Tur­key: how can the ups­wing of Tur­kish natio­na­lism be unders­tood, to what ext­ent is it rela­ted to its con­sti­tu­tio­nal con­di­ti­ons and those of the Tur­kish nation – to which ele­ments and events (fic­ti­tious or real) is refe­rence made and to which not?

First of all, we were able to gain two exci­ting main con­tri­bu­ti­ons, on which some comm­ents have alre­ady been recei­ved: The social psy­cho­lo­gist and socio­lo­gist Meh­met Mihri Özdo­gan pres­ents in his con­tri­bu­tion »Nation, Traum und Mas­sen­bin­dung. Die Natio­na­li­sie­rung der Gesell­schaft am Bei­spiel der Tür­kei« (in Ger­man), fun­da­men­tal reflec­tions on a psy­cho­ana­ly­ti­cal-social-psy­cho­lo­gi­cal under­stan­ding of the emer­gence of natio­nal fee­lings and pic­to­rial worlds, against the back­ground of which he turns to the pro­cess of the natio­na­liza­tion of Tur­kish society. The cul­tu­ral anthor­po­lo­gist Ayşe Çav­dar deals with this issue in her text »The Image of the State: The Saga of Wild Dum­rul in the ›New Tur­key‹ « (in Eng­lish) deals with a myth that has been repea­tedly dis­cus­sed in Tur­kish history and asks about its func­tion in the cur­rent situa­tion in Tur­key.

At the end of the issue’s pro­duc­tion, we noti­ced that we had lost a topic on the way that is cen­tral to Tur­kish natio­na­lism: the geno­cide of Arme­ni­ans from 1915 directly before the for­ma­tion of the Tur­kish state as a nation, which to this day is a taboo and denied – not just in – in Tur­key. Since we do not want to deny, but expli­ci­tely under­stand the role of the con­ti­nuing denial of this geno­cide in the deve­lo­p­ments of Tur­kish natio­na­lism both in Tur­key and in inter­na­tio­nal deba­tes, we have deci­ded to include an extra­or­di­nary third main con­tri­bu­tion, which makes this gap expli­cit: Talin Suci­yan dis­cus­ses in »Aner­ken­nung, aber wie? Schlag­lich­ter auf pro­ble­ma­ti­sche Aspekte der Aner­ken­nungs­de­batte in Deutsch­land« (in Ger­man), the memo­rial-poli­ti­cal and sci­en­ti­fic events of the years 2015 and 2016 in the con­text of the con­ti­nuing sys­te­ma­tic vio­lence of denial, which also daily con­fronts the des­cen­dants of sur­vi­ving Arme­ni­ans in Ger­many.
